The Oath and Covenant of the Priesthood

All of those verses parallel the endowment ceremony. Including the initiatories that always start with these verses in exodus 40:

The verse finishes with this line "that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office." and then continues on to say:

D&C 84: 33-44-

33 For whoso is faithful unto the obtaining these two priesthoods of which I have spoken, and the magnifyingtheir calling, are sanctified by the Spirit unto the renewingof their bodies.

34 They become the sons of Moses and of Aaron and the seed of Abraham, and the church and kingdom, and the elect of God.

35 And also all they who receive this priesthood receiveme, saith the Lord;

36 For he that receiveth my servants receiveth me;

37 And he that receiveth me receiveth my Father;

38 And he that receiveth my Father receiveth my Father’s kingdom; therefore all that my Father hath shall be given unto him.

39 And this is according to the oath and covenant which belongeth to the priesthood.

40 Therefore, all those who receive the priesthood, receive this oath and covenant of my Father, which he cannot break, neither can it be moved.

41 But whoso breaketh this covenant after he hath received it, and altogether turneth therefrom, shall not have forgiveness of sins in this world nor in the world to come.

42 And wo unto all those who come not unto this priesthood which ye have received, which I now confirm upon you who are present this day, by mine own voice out of the heavens; and even I have given the heavenly hosts and mine angels charge concerning you.

43 And I now give unto you a commandment to beware concerning yourselves, to give diligent heed to the words of eternal life.

44 For you shall live by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God.

Without going into massive detail, to avoid temple content. The first 2 verses apply to the reception of the emblems and symbols of the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthood in the endowment. All of the the temple is about receiving all of Christ and having our bodies, spirits, and minds turned to our callings on earth and sanctified to God's purposes (which tie in 36-38). The passage into the celestial room would represent 38-39. 40 Could be tied to the receiving of our Garments (of the holy priesthood) as well as being clothed period. 41, to the gravity of our covenants made in the temple. 43-44 both about keeping the sacred nature and words received in the temple as well as obtaining all the words and revelation that God may give us in our lives.

So very applicable, for both men and women :) . I probably won't memorize it, but I definitely am going to read and ponder it!

With luv,

Thank you thank you thank you for this. It gave me a serious "lightbulb!" moment!

Oh perhaps someday women will be given the priesthood.  If so I guess memorize those passages now.  Get familiar.

Dont get confused where it tells us he can't break it then in the next sentence says if you break it.  The he should be referenced to Heavenly Father.  So keep in mind your part is be faithful unto obtaining and then magnify your calling.  If you don't do that can't be fOrgiven unless you repent and do better.
