This will happen! We're having the Temple groundbreaking ceremony next Saturday and then in the Spring sometime they'll start building and then, it's projected, 20 months of construction so Fall ish 2018 come up and do the write up on the Temple!

I’m grateful that by God’s grace, I now have a very different life from the one I used to lead.  I always look forward to Thanksgiving.  Stuffing & mashed potatoes with gravy over all of it, high on my list of favorite things! This year we hosted dinner at our home in Seattle’s U-District.  15 of us total, including five US Coastguard sailors whose ship had to make an unplanned & extended stay in harbor for repairs.  A number of families in our local church hosted the service men and women to make sure everyone had a place to go for dinner who wanted one.  Great evening of conversation following some excellent food (prepared by my wife with help from my mother-in-law) and a little wine (I paired an Oregon Pinot Noir from Cristom Vineyards with the turkey). 

This morning we all slept in.  Then we declared an exception to the usual routine—leftover pumpkin and apple pie for breakfast (truth told, I was too full for it after dinner).  And it being a rainless day & the University of Washington five blocks from my house, we took bikes down to campus and rode about.  Then we had a late lunch at Shultzy’s (“best of the wurst”) on “The Ave” (non-locals call it University Way Northeast).  It’s been in the U-District as long as I have, established 1988.  Choice of my oldest, age 7.  She enjoys German food almost as much as I do.  And while there we watched my UW Huskies crush the Washington State Cougars in the Apple Cup.

My kids are playing, relatively quietly. My wife is upstairs doing some sowing.  So much to be grateful for.  And soon it will be supper-time, turkey left-overs.

I don't get to choose my temple dedication assignments, but it's a very real possibility. I'll keep it in the back of my mind.

Family first, family second, family third. Then my faith, the blessings that flow from that and for my Saviour Jesus Christ...he is really first, because of him, I will always have my family. Finally the gift he has given me to write in ways that blesses others through poetry.
