Mods from what I have seen over the years tend to shut down or limit emotionally charged topics and thus needing moderation that generally involve lots and lots of repetition, which is the usual fare of politics.  There are tons of boards that talk about politics.  I don't see why the mods should be required to put in more time because people don't want to go elsewhere to find those conversations.

The constitution is not hanging by a thread, nor has it ever.  The closest it has come to being threatened was is the 1860's during the civil war.  It survived, and so did our republic. As a nation, we are stronger today than we have ever been. In the U.S., citizens have a higher standard of living than their parents and ancestors ever had.  

Are things where they should be according to the gospel of Christ?.  Not yet, but things are improving.  Discrimination is being addressed, Health care is better, freedom to marry who you want to is now protected by law.  The standard of living is higher in the U.S. than it has ever been.   

Right now, this very second, is the best time to alive than any other time in the history of men.  We can thank the people and their government for this.  They moved forward despite the screaming and moaning from fundie religionist .
