New Church Video Re: Addiction

I know there are critics of the Church who think that the Brethren are oblivious to the Real World problems and difficulties being faced by society in general and the Saints in particular, that they are just a bunk of old fogies cloistered in Salt Lake.  Such sentiments are deeply flawed, but they persist.

On Friday the Church published on its YouTube "Mormon Channel" the following video depicting a mother facing a drug dependency: 

Seems pretty Real World to me.

(Also, this video has some real poignancy to me personally because I have a close acquaintance who just finished a very long drug-related prison sentence, and who has never seen his daughter as a result.  Moreover, the little girl in the video is my niece.)

I am glad the Church is taking these issues head-on.

The church has a lovely collection of videos for the Addiction Recovery Program. This is a nice addition.

ARP Meetings may be the best meetings in the entire church and are useful for any person trying to overcome character weaknesses (not just addictions).
