pogi Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 (edited) Will scientists create new life in the lab? Well, it doesn't seem like the most romantic place, but... Seriously though, so what if they do, what will that prove in your mind? That God is not the creator of all life? Man cannot create life without the intervention of God. All life, and all matter has spirit and intelligence. God is the father and creator of it all regardless of how it came to be on earth. Edited October 20, 2014 by pogi

Rob Osborn Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Will scientists create new life in the lab? Well, it doesn't seem like the most romantic place, but... Seriously though, so what if they do, what will that prove in your mind? That God is not the creator of all life? Man cannot create life without the intervention of God. All life, and all matter has spirit and intelligence. God is the father and creator of it all regardless of how it came to be on earth. Its more than that though. All scientists can do is create scenarios that make the basic ingredients for life. What they cannot do however is create the scenario where viable intelligent information is created. Even the supposed first life form had to have an intelligent design element to it. If the scientists could truly create a natural scenario where nature, on its own could produce intelligent information, then we could debate the what ifs of life. They still cant get over the hurdle of how nature can create intelligent information on its own. The analogy here is that even nature can create pretty much all the elements (ingredients) that make an atomic bomb, but it cannot make the bomb on its own because it lacks the intelligent and purposeful ability to create intelligent information and intelligent processes that create something that has intelligent purpose.
MormonFreeThinker Posted October 20, 2014 Author Posted October 20, 2014 God is the father and creator of it all regardless of how it came to be on earth. Mormon Interpreter, "A final advantage of the LDS framework is compelling to me, though others may not find it so. I like the idea of evo-bio mechanisms at least playing some role in the development of creatures that impact us so terribly. I prefer to think that HIV was not concocted in God’s laboratory. I do not like the idea of him crafting the Yersinia pestis that would wipe out at least a third of Europe. The malaria parasite and its mosquito vector were not his magnum opus. I do not think he had it in for the Ichneumonidae‘s dinner. I prefer, rather, to see these as “biologic tsunamis”— natural disasters which telestial natural processes make inevitable in some form. God regrets the suffering they cause, but will (by agreement with us and creation) not prevent them because of the necessities of the telestial state. (God did, however, enter into mortality to suffer all their effects with us and for us [Mosiah 13:28; Alma 7:11–13].)" http://www.mormoninterpreter.com/endless-forms-most-beautiful-the-uses-and-abuses-of-evolutionary-biology-in-six-works/

I will bet that science has made more mistakes than we can find in the scriptures. So go ahead and mock, if you want to poke and make fun of prophets then lets bring your atheist sciene into view and start counting the myriads of mistakes they have made over the years.
