Needless to say she was quite surprised when she not only discovered her dream in the Book of Mormon but also found the interpretation to her dream which she had wondered about her whole life. Shortly thereafter she was baptized. Apparently God can and does give similar visions to different people.Great. So who was the man dressed in white?

Nephi was not experiencing a re-run of Lehi's dream.Perhaps you're right that they didn't have exactly the same vision, but the spirit asks him, "What desirest thou?" and he replies, "I desire to behold the things which my father saw." (See 1 Nephi 11:2-3). And the spirit tells him, "Thou shalt behold the things which thou hast desired" (see v. 6). Which is more, Nephi provides interpretation of the symbols in his father's vision; it would be hard for him to do that if they were substantively and substantially different. P.S.: I'm glad you haven't responded yet: that gives me the chance to add this: While I'll concede your point that the respective Versions of the Vision (yes, yes; I like alliteration! ) may not have been exactly identical, Nephi says in 1 Nephi 14:29, " And I bear record that I saw the things which my father saw, and the angel of the Lord did make them known unto me."
