Stone holm Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 We are going to see a lot of bad reporting on the mysterious Misha associated with the radicalization of at least one of the alleged Boston bombers. I am concerned that this will turn into a witch hunt accusing people who are actively engaged in proselyting of brainwashing, or the new term, radicalizing people with regards to religion. I remember back in the 80's when Courts were ordering Mooney converts to be debrainwashed and similar sentiments being directed at the FLDS after raids on their compound. This could be a dangerous development for any proselyting minority religion.

Since the election, Americans know more about Mormons and I have not heard any of the sort of talk that I used to hear before the election. In my opinion, Mormons won the elections even if Romney did not. As far as I am concerned, right now, no decent man would want to be president of the USA. Maybe after this country suffers for a few years and the minds of the people are seeking God perhaps.I strongly believe that a few more bombings and it will be open season on Muslims in the US. A lot of innocent people will die because of a few evil terrorists, and it makes me heart sick.

It doesn't take very many high profile idiots to pull public opinion down on a group. People like the Westboro Baptist Church are having a similar impact, although not to the same degree, on Christians in general. While Romney and Huntsman have been good at assisting in making Mormons more acceptable to the mainstream, Glenn Beck has had an alienating effect. Fortunately no Mormon gun toting idiot has gone off the rails in America, or you could see that reversed in a heartbeat.

The outsider, especially if she does not speak Arabic, and is white has many obstacles. I have pressed other Muslims hard, and I mean hard, to understand that to survive in Western culture, if they are not going to be more open to outsiders, then they must aggressively self police themselves to prevent nut cases from becoming the instrument of their destruction.There is an inexplicable to me, cultural divide that seems impenetrable. Fortunately, the young, raised here, seem to become part of our culture very quickly. I desparately want to see all Muslims as the peaceful people they say they are, and when one of them shatters that dream, it hurts me in a way that I can not describe. One of them described me as an idealistic, crazy but lovable old woman the other day.I think that our culture today is vastly different than that of 1830, and those that persecuted early saints were criminals that would not be allowed such freedom today.

I have not seen any increase in "Muslim hate" resulting from the Boston Marathon bombings. If there were any definite connection and increase persecution/backlash, the Medía would be on it in a heartbeat....

If there were any definite connection and increase persecution/backlash, the Medía would be on it in a heartbeat....You must not be on the same internet news agencies -- which have been reporting on the increased backlash.

Sure, every act of violence by a perceived religious fanatic is going to produce some backlash. In a nation of over 300 millions it would be inconceivable that somewhere a backlash against Muslims didn't occur as a result of the bombings in Boston. But what percentage of the Muslim population have been the target of such prejudice? I am assuming an insignificant percentage....
