Perhaps An Apology ?

Right up front I have to say that the church is true, Joseph Smith is a prophet, and the book of Mormon is true. I had huge problems with men when I started with the LDS. For reasons I can not explain, I have seen enough to know that faithful men have something going on that is beyond my understanding, and if you believe such things, the Holy Spirit has made it clear to me that I need to be respectful to them.

So, earlier my comment about men and the priesthood was not intended to be anything other than fun. Those who were offended, I am sorry.

Hey, Ellen,

I'm a man and I have problems with men too. Sometimes they get arrogant and full of themselves, and "amen" to that priesthood, etc. But on the whole they are a bunch of caring guys who take their responsibilities seriously. Instead of quaffing something at the local bar, they might be doing their home teaching, a weekly shift at the temple, meeting with the bishop or someone in their quorum leadership, or moving someone on a saturday morning, and trying (possibly in vain) to keep a wife happy by doing chores around the house, taking care of kids or grandkids, etc. Without the womenfolk to keep them in line they'd be in big trouble!!

Somehow, it helps to be able to laugh at ourselves rather than feeling guilty that we are not perfect (yet). So, by all means, hit us with a joke once in a while -- telegraph it if you have to.
