Isn't Elder Hartman Rector associated with them somehow?

Very much so, though his health might be an issue currently. Meldrum is a big fan of name dropping Rector, among others like Academy Award-winning filmmaker Kieth Merrill. Argumentum ad verecundium at its finest.

Don't forget the Osmonds!

I know that Hartman Rector has spent time among the Hopi (through the Hopi Outreach group by Mike Sweat) but I assume he hasn't focused much of his studies on the Hopi and their traditions and correlations to those of the Nephites and Lamanites in the Book of Mormon or his stance may change.

If it's not too late I'd like to submit Fido for an act. Anyone have Meldrum's contact information?

I remember seeing that now! I haven't taken a serious look at Meldrum (or apologetics in general) for several months now. Meldrum's website and testimonial section reads like a St. Matthew's Prayer Rug advertisement. He really needs to fire his publicist.

If one is really interested in whether Rodney Meldrum knows what he is talking about, I urge you to have a look at an essay by Gregory L. Smith entitled "Often in Error, Seldom in Doubt: Rod Meldrum and the Book of Mormon DNA," FARMS Review 22/1 (2010):17-161. There are also two essays by Matt Roper, the first of which is entitled "Joseph Smith, Revelation, and Book of Mormon Geography," FARMS Review 22/2 (2010): 17-85; and the second essay is entitled "Losing the Remnant: The New Exclusivist 'Movement' and the Book of Mormon," FARMS Review 22/2 (2010): 87-124. This essay by Gregory L. Smith is the same Greg Smith whose scholarship was then in vogue at the Maxwell Institute, but who seems to have fallen out of favor when a sudden change in course (aka meltdown) took place.
