blooit Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I am a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu practitioner. This is a video of my teacher's teacher, Rickson Gracie: Maybe I am looking too deeply into this, but it looks a lot like a knock to the I'm a Mormon campaign.
Tacenda Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Well, the JW's have a campaign, maybe this guy is mocking them. The only giveaway if it was one, is when he said it's based on "feelings" and the part where it shows him with two women.
blooit Posted February 18, 2013 Author Posted February 18, 2013 I meant the theme in general, as in, "You may be a Mormon, but I belong to a more transcendent group."I went to the website, still not sure what it's all about. Lot's of people in their undewear. Kind of odd.
Mudcat Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Maybe I am looking too deeply into this, but it looks a lot like a knock to the I'm a Mormon campaign.Either it's a knock at the "I'm a Mormon" campaign or it's quite a bit of flattery from emulation, by the "Citizen's of Humanity". The "feel" of it is certainly similar to the Im a Mormon type adds.It seems to be well put together and trying to send it's own message, so I would think it's not trying to be critical of the LDS type videos. I would expect it to be more "spoofish" if it were a slam. More likely, someone thought LDS were on to something, in a communicative sense and are trying to capitalize on that idea.
Saints Alive Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 (edited) Imitation is the most sincere form of flatteryETA: After further review, that is the weirdest ad for clothing I have ever seen. I thought Citizens of Humanity was some new humanist group lol! Edited February 19, 2013 by Saints Alive
