I had to resurrect this thread in order to announce this. Maybe someone will put it in News.Yeh, but that won't be until this Fall. We'd like to bring in some Dead Sea Scroll experts to speak on the subject. Years ago we had Freedman and Cross at BYU speaking about the Scrolls and some other stuff. Would like to bring in an Israeli or two to bring us up to date.. 1

Would like to bring in an Israeli or two to bring us up to date..That's weird they announced it so early on the local news. They did say something about BYU doing some studies on the scrolls. Were you part of that? So cool that on this board people who are so far from being scholarly, me! get to converse with people like you and others on here. Hopefully you'll keep us updated!

Prof. Don Parry and his associates at BYU have been major players on the Dead Sea Scrolls, using the FARMS database to handle the Hebrew and Aramaic texts. Parry and Emanuel Tov (the Israeli in Jerusalem who heads the project) have collaborated on a major book series called the The Dead Sea Scrolls Reader, which now totals 6 volumes published by Brill in Leiden, The Netherlands. See http://www.brill.com/dead-sea-scrolls-reader-volume-5-poetic-and-liturgical-texts . Tov also heads the Hebrew University Bible Project (HUB) which has been publishing the most up to date critical text of the Hebrew Bible. Tov took over from my old Hebrew teacher at the Hebrew Univ., the late Chaim Rabin.
