Epiphanius spear headed his condemnation because he disagreed with Origen's theological teachings of anthropomorphism and God even going so far as to redeem Satan.Christians hold Origen in high regard for his work "Contra Celsus" and for being clearly one of the greatest ECFs and theologians. Is it reasonable to suggest that Christians have a love/hate relationship with some of their earliest founders?

Of course, we do the same because by the time of Origen the apostasy had been well underway and many truths had been lost/twisted away.

There it sits right there, as obvious as the nose on your face in canon scripture, yet it is treated as if it were the outburst of a vile heretic, Paul notwithstanding. Preferably ignored, and when brought up for conversation, castigated and demeaned.Much like immersion baptism in many sects.

It makes me reflect on Rob Bell's book "Love Wins".
