He left the Church because he found out the real history of the Church - the one that was not taught, or even mentioned - in the 1950s and 1960s and most of the 1970s. Ah yes, the "Real History of the Church" that is hidden from members and only the Anti's know all about it.Get real, people! Yes this post was relatively easy as far as former members go. Or did Mariner proceed and thereby elicit a response he does not care to share with us to the effect that his assumption, as some of us believe, was ill-founded?Add-on: Lest I be accused of a false dichotomy, I hasten to acknowledge that there are possiblities other than the above, not the least of which being that Mariner has simply been distracted in the iterim by yuletide observance. I'm jut wondering why he has not returned to report on a matter on which he seemed so certain...Thanks for asking.I did email Muscogean.In the email, I referred him to this thread so he could respond in context and then asked him why he left the LDS Church.I also specifically asked if he felt he had been adversely affected by the Lamanite Program of the LDS Church.So far I have received no response. I have also not seen any posts from him in the last week or so. He may be offline for the holidays. Or he may simply not be interested enough to respond.

Later in the thread, someone states that former members of the Church are some of the worst offenders.There is indeed a tension between turning the other cheek and righteous indignation.
