KevinG Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Many posters know I have been looking for work the last few months and my large family has needed help with expenses. When it comes to consecration I'd like to be the guy writing checks and saying "how much does the ward need Bishop?" but for now I'm the guy being helped by his ward. Even short term its humbling. I cannot fully express how grateful I am that we are able to survive until I find another full time position due to the generosity of the Saints. Tonight my family returned from Youth Night and Scouts to find a beautiful basket full of ingredients and treats for a thanksgiving meal - including a turkey. It had hand written notes telling my family how much we are loved and how we "rock". I don't know if it came from the Saints or other good neighbors. Being blessed with so many friends we don't know where the basket could have come from is a blessing in and of itself. I remember one Christmas when we were financially doing well. We picked up a man and his two children walking on the side of the road from the laundry to their small home. When they saw the situation the children lived in, our children decided to give up some of their gifts so the kids could have a big Christmas. They chose things off of their list that we admitted we had purchased for them, some toys, a star wars blanket, new clothes in what we guessed were their sizes... We packed the gifts in a large bag and hung it from their door late one night. We all discussed how great the giving felt to all of us. We received a great blessing. I still remember what we were able to give to these children but I am hard pressed to remember what we gave each other that year. Now things have come full circle. I am humbled and incredibly grateful someone is thinking of us. I like being in a position of giving rather than receiving, but I have learned from both.God bless our thoughtful friends (as I'm sure He is doing). I hope they feel nourished and warm every time they remember their anonymous gift to us this Thanksgiving. 2

The family is rising to the occasion and in some ways this has been a good learning experience for them. I just want to be able to afford my blessings again!
