rameumptom Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I'd like to pick the brains of the well read here. Are there online articles or books that discuss the history of the conflict between Arab/Muslim and Israel? Some concepts I'd like to see would include the issue of the chosen son: Isaac/Ishmael, Zionism, and Islamic radicalism.

He even mentions the mission of Orson Hyde in 1840 to dedicate Israel for the gathering of the Jews.
volgadon Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I really like Emile Habiby's novel The Secret Life of Saeed: The Pessoptimist. In high school I was involved with an outreach program between Arab and Jewish youth, one of the activites we had was watching Muhamad Bahri's monologue based on the book. The novel does a very good job of portraying the experience of many Palestinians in the 40s-60s.Most of the books I've read on the conflict have been in Hebrew, but I'll look for a few in English.
volgadon Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 If you get past the blogger's editorialising, this nlog has some important primary sources. http://palestinepostings.blogspot.com/
rpn Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Second vote for Abraham Divided. Really helped to learn the historical context of the dispute.
