Crime happens all over the world. But where do certain crimes happen more often? Here are the latest statistics from Nationmaster. Mexico is not on the list, even though Mexico city is the 5th largest city in the world with over 17 Million people.

Furthermore, you also have to consider the epidemic of racism and nationalism in Mexico. Drug lords will target the U.S., believing it is immoral to target their own people. That's encouraging, isn't it?

One news story that was out recently involved a young lady who volunteered to be the police chief after the other two were brutally murdered. She fled to the U.S., after receiving a threatening letter, and asked for amnesty. I recommend reading the "crime rate" portion of the wiki article.

Your own source says, "Mexico is safer than the United States," but the wiki article suggests that rape doesn't even get reported out there. Your own source also says that all the crime is between the police and drug cartels, not tourists. Are the drug cartels and police raping each other???

Regardless, we're not trying to keep tourists out of the United States. We're trying to keep drug cartels out of the United States. The case your source makes is that if you don't do drugs, you're safer in Mexico. I seriously doubt that is true, judging by the U.N. statistics (not the U.S., as your source suggests our statistics are biased). But even if it is true, that doesn't change the incredibly high rate of violence that is occurring there, all drug related. Whom do you think I'm trying to keep out??? OBVIOUSLY, the people who are involved in drug related violence in Mexico.

That was one of the most absurd sources I've ever seen used on this site, and that's saying something. Apparently, you decided to find a site that directly contradicts U.S. statistics, claiming we're lying. Of course, the U.N. statistics agree with with the U.S., not your silly advertisement.

Of course, if you're okay with our law enforcement officials being murdered, and cheap prices on heroin and meth for all, I guess we want Mexican drug lord cronies flooding through our borders unchecked.

Of course, we shouldn't worry about the drug cartels' presence in the U.S.; once enough of our law enforcement officials are murdered, our crime rate will be low, just like it is in Mexico. How can you have crime, when your law enforcement officials pretend crimes don't occur? Everything works out well for the Mexicans, which explains why they all want to come here, where crime is so much worse.

The city of Juarez with a population of roughly 10% of that of Afghanistan is more dangerous and has more deaths than the entire nation of Afghanistan. This is telling when a city in Mexico has more murders than an entire nation in the midst of a civil war with some of the most dangerous terrorist groups in the world fighting and that nation is considered a failed state.

That is because most of the Mexican criminals are in the US.

Now before you get your your knickers all bunched up if you will remember I am one of those who does not think the bishops should be an extension of the INS.

I am also blessed with four beautiful grandchildren whose father was an illegal immigrant who decided to leave them without any means of support so they live with me. I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of illegal immigration.

So if a bishop see's a murder he is merely an extension of the police?

The philosophy is short sighted and incorrect. And I am one looking for compromise and do not think the church should necessarily involve itself with immigration issues. However I will not reduce it down to a trite statement that in the end is little more than a logical fallacy either.

We are a nation of legal immigrants, and we are better for it... agreed.

But, don't even get me started on the Church and illegal immigrants. I'm totally opposed to illegal immigrants and agree with ERayR that we need to close that border and then work on solving the problem of those lawbreaking individuals who have sneaked into our country.

Have you ever read about Mexico's laws regarding illegal immigrants into their country? Ours pale in comparison... I saw their laws discussed on one of the weekend news programs. They don't just mamby-pamby them by driving them back to the border and turning them lose... a Mexican jail is a very real possible consequence, etc.
