Duncan Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 http://www.ldschurchnews.com/articles/60833/Area-leadership--2011.htmlAccording to this Elder Tad R. Callister is in the Presidency of the 70 and Elder Costa seems to have been released and serving in the Brazil area, is this the case? I don't seem to have sustained this-i have no problem with it, It seems to be putting the horse before the cart a touch!

It means that the GA's manage church affairs and make calls and changes as they feel the need then the church membership either sustains or rejects their actions. You will get your chance to sustain this action at the next general conference.
Gohan Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 It is an actual change though: http://lds.org/church/news/elder-callister-called-to-presidency-of-the-seventy?lang=eng
Scott Lloyd Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Sustaining does not mean you get to micro manage. You will get your chance to sustain this action at the next general conference. This is true. While new callings or changes in appointments are most often announced at general conference, it is not at all abnormal for these callings and announcements to transpire months before. For example, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland was ordained an apostle on June 23, 1994. His calling was announced at that time. The sustaining took place the following October at general conference.
Duncan Posted May 12, 2011 Author Posted May 12, 2011 I actually know Elder Callister, I served in his area as a missionary and everything that goes along with that, but i highly doubt he would remember me! I was just curious is all!
