With General Conference right around the corner, I have been thinking about the reasons why it is important to follow the prophet. So I ask each of you, why is it so important?

With General Conference right around the corner, I have been thinking about the reasons why it is important to follow the prophet. So I ask each of you, why is it so important?

So we can be protected from false doctrine and receive continuing revelation to guide us and give clarification and comfort to us, in these latter days.

I think it is important because some of us may not have gotten around to reading anything by Norman Vincent Peale.

As a nonbeliever, I don't think it is important.

I don't know where you been, but I have yet to walk away from GC without guidance and clarification for my life.

General Conference is important to anybody for whom it works. If listening to General Conference gives you that spiritual boost you need in your life and it makes you a better human being, then watch or listen to it.

For anybody investigating the church and want to know more about what the men whom the church sustains as prophets, seers, and revelators have to say, General Conference is great.

If you want a brand new revelation that will give us information concerning important current events, when to start packing up for a move to Missouri, or new information concerning the nature of the universe, you're probably wasting your time with it.

But who knows. There's always a possibility of a big surprise. But the last big surprise happened 33 years ago

That alone is a great reason to take 8 hours out of your live twice a year to watch GC, you never know if they will tell us to pack up and move to Independence, or if Christ will show up, it's unlikely but hey it could happen!

Hehe... I have a feeling we will all be surprised when it happens... but it will happen... and we will all least expect it I think. The Lord knows when though =).

The prophets always recieve revelation when they give general conference talks about what they need to tell us to do. But every six months I always hope that they will announce that they are going to add more sections to the Doctrine and Covenants. Who knows, maybe they will this time.
