He's doing good work on the other side of the veil now.We need to remember to keep his fellow missionaries in our prayers as well. It's a hard impact for them to take, we lost an Elder - to natural causes - in my mission and in knocked some of us for a loop for quite a while.
silvermoon383 Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 This was both crazy, and somewhat expected news for me. I served there a few years ago and I'd heard stories about the wild, inaccurate gun battles between the police and the gangs, especially in Spanish Town and Kingston. No one I served with had ever gotten hurt, but we all knew that it would only be a matter of time before someone got caught in a crossfire, or a stray shot. That's probably why my 2nd mission president shut down parts of Spanish Town near the end of my time there.
Bsix Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Sad indeed.This is very second hand...my son (on a mission himself) is friends with one of the missionaries who was caught in cross fire. We have heard that a group of missionaries were driving to a Zone basketball game when the shoot out started. The missionaries dived to the floor of the vehicle and my son's friend the driver, punched the gas to get out of there. As they drove away, they discovered that one of the missionaries had been shot in the head. He was dead.This breaks my heart.Six
