TruthWave7 Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Glenn Beck is predicting hyperinflation and civil unrest in the near future in the US, and world-wide for that matter. If the USA reinstates Sunday closing laws as it had in force in the 1800's in most states, would the LDS Church protest this law on the grounds breaching the wall separating church and state?
Calm Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 would the LDS Church protest this law on the grounds breaching the wall separating church and state?Would you?

Or was there are larger point to be made?
katherine the great Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Were the blue laws enforced originally because of religious piety or so that Americans could be ensured at least one day off from work a week? I'd actually never even HEARD of blue laws until I visited my Grandma in Rhode Island when I was a kid. I grew up in California and we didn't have anything like that.

Also if people would realise that the phrase is not even in the Constitution that might go a long way as well.BTW name dropping Glenn adds nothing to your point unless it was to bash Glenn then this thread is a waste.
frankenstein Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 ugh, truthwave, are you sure you just don't want to talk about how the 7th day is the sabbath?as for separation of church and state, if people realized there is more than one "thing" the United States Citizens enjoy that are specifically written in the US Constitution we would not have silly discussions about "where is it written in the US Constitution".Religious Organization largely stay out of political or legislative matters.
BookofMormonLuvr Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 TW7-Do you honestly believe that with the Human Secularism of modern society and rising anti-Christian sentiment that a religious "Sunday Law" will be put into force? This is one place where modern SDA teachings loose me.
