Nemesis Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I am still adding things but here are the changes so far.-New section of the board for announcements and for threads for news of interest.-This new general section which will be limited to discussions about Mormon history, doctrine, and so on.- New user levels. - some may need tweaking but at the moment here is where they are at. --New Members 0-25 posts a new member is allowed to post in social hall and create threads there. They are only allowed to reply in the other sections except our yet to be created invitation only section. --Members 26-3500 posts can create topics and reply to threads in all sections of the board. --Contributor 3500+ Can post and reply anywhere on the board without restriction. They will be able to edit their posts and threads and able to open and close there own threads. --Limited Member Can only post 12 reply's in 24 hrs cannot use pm system cannot start topics. All the moves from each level are automatic.I am also considering and interfaith folder where we can get more perspective from other religions. cinepro Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 For some reason, I thought it would be a totally new board and we'd all go back to 0 posts. Like a message-board baptism...
Gohan Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Looks good! Although the new folders will take a little bit of getting used to. How many additional new ones are you considering? I saw 'Invitation Only' and a possible 'Interfaith'.
Gohan Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 What is the difference between Members and Contributors? It looks like both can post anywhere. It looks like Members can't edit their own posts anymore. And that Contributors can open/close threads that they've formed.
Nemesis Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 It looks like Members can't edit their own posts anymore. And that Contributors can open/close threads that they've formed. They can for up to 24 hours after they post.

Either they show they can follow them during that time or they are banned.Nemesis
Gohan Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I don't seem to have the option on mine, could be a bug? Otherwise I'd eliminate that last double-post...Edit: Ha! It's there now! Thanks.
Uncle Dale Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 ...I am also considering and interfaith folder where we can get more perspective from other religions. NemesisLooks like all is working OK --I'm still trying to figure out the difference between a "discussion" and a "dialogue," but will guess that the latter is more suited to a two-person discussion entered into on friendly terms.I'm not sure how an interfaith forum would work -- sounds problematic.Uncle Dale
DispensatorMysteriorum Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I like. We need a "like" button like on facebook...

Lars Umlaut Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Will moderators still be reading personal messages between board members? Thanks!
Nemesis Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 Will moderators still be reading personal messages between board members? Thanks! We will if there is a need to, and this applies for all message boards. Do not assume privacy when you do not control the database. From the board guidelines. Private messages that are harassing or violate other board rules may also be reported. When reported, the message appears in a report folder and when necessary, we can access all logs in our database of private exchanges. We are telling you this for your security. Nemesis
Uncle Dale Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I had to do some research on the subject also take a look at this http://ezinearticles.com/?Dialogue-vs.-Discussion&id=43241...Yeah, I looked -- reminds me of my old days as a member of encounter groups.>Everyone must suspend their assumptions...I doubt very much that I can suspend my Reorganite testimony for very long -- but will try, when dialoguing with others who can also make the attempt. All in all, I'm intrigued by the concept of dialogue rather than apologetics. I'm cautiously optimistic that I can still be pleasantly surprised...Good luck, and Godspeed.UD

Very cut and dried. Will we get a warning or two if we inadvertantly slip up and cross the line? Can contributors give warnings within their threads?
