Personally I think spending all that Church money on the City Creek centre is appalling.

You're entitled to an opinion. But yours is no more valuable than anyone else's, and much less so than those whose duty it is (see Doc&Cov 120) to disburse the Lord's monies.

Further, you contradict yourself below.

I'd say this is the place you say one thing and then its opposite.

These monies are being "properly managed", and, last I checked, Salt Lake City is one of those places in the category of "around the world".

The Church could even afford to put in a management structure to make sure they were properly utilised.

Section 120 clearly defines that "management structure". You might want to read it.

Yes, there is a reason. It's not nefarious, though, sorry to report.

When we spend money and tell people about it (as, e.g., Haitian relief), people say we're just blowing our own horn, and that it's for Public Relations purposes. You're a prime example, too, of when the non-tithing/offering disbursements are reported, you whine that you'd spend the money differently, and that your priorities are more reasonable than those of the Brethren. We do not disclose these damned-if-we-do-and-damned-if-we-don't expenditures because we're damned if we do, and we're damned if we don't. And you're among those damning us.

It sounds like you are resident of SLC by the way you go on about the mall.

If so, do yourself a favor. Go down to Temple Square, the west end between the tabernacle and Church History Museum. There you will find a tour bus with senior missionaries that will be more than happy to take you down to welfare square and show you what a portion of the Church funds go to.

I think you will be surprised and how much world wide relief they provide, anonymously BTW, for the reason stated above.

I think you underestimate just how much good the church welfare system does for more that just it's members.
