consiglieri Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Dear Uncertain,If you are right about Alma 11, then that is obviously the way it is. Fair enough. I just have a hard time looking at something like that as having eternal applicability to the most powerful being in the universe. As to the other body that Jesus would theoretically have, I have more than one change of clothes in my closet at home! All the Best!--Consiglieri
Jason Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 As to the other body that Jesus would theoretically have, I have more than one change of clothes in my closet at home!Treating one's immortal body as "just another suit" would seem a rather Protestant/Gnostic point of view, not really an LDS one.

All the Best!--Consiglieri Hi Consiglieri,Well it is a rare passage of scripture that does not have multiple reasonable interpretations. It certainly is possible Alma 11 does not rule out resurrected beings voluntarily dieing just ruling out involuntarily dieing. I will say such a distinction is not made in the relevant verse it has to be read into the scripture in order to make your thesis work. But heck this occurs lots of times and in and of itself is not the kiss of death at least not to me. I do find your idea intriguing I was just pointing out what might be viewed as a weakness. All the Best,Uncertain

Has he laid down his body for the time he holds this role or has he yet to receive a body?
consiglieri Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 What do you see happening with the Holy Ghost? Has he laid down his body for the time he holds this role or has he yet to receive a body? The Holy Ghost was a God before this world was created. Hence, if latter-day revelation says anything about his status, he has already gone through mortality on a previous world and was exalted. On his world, Elohim was the Savior (together with the entire class of worlds created by the Holy Ghost's exalted brothers and sisters). The Holy Ghost then participated in creating this world; came to this earth at the outset, before he was a Ghost, and brought with him his exalted and resurrected body, and his wife; and began the process of begetting physical bodies for all of his sons and daughters he produced in the premortal existence of this world. At least, that's what I suspect. I find it not unthinkable that spirits that were greater than our own, such as Jesus and that of the Holy Ghost, may well have found their way to divinity without having to go through mortality first.

The concept of reincarnation where it is just constant rebirth after death horrifies me.
