True, but I was saying that I doubted Rowling intended it to be that way.

Inasmuch as I do not know JK personally, I will probably never know what she "intended" absent some kind of public statement from her one way or the other.

On the other hand, it is difficult for me to believe that an author as obviously intelligent as JK would not look back at what she wrote and see the obvious parallels to the sacrifice of the Savior.

I mean, if I can see it . . .

Interestingly, a guy at church last Sunday suggested that a good follow-up would be to look at the entire seven book series from the persepctive of Draco Malfoy.

My wife hit it pretty good when she said that all Snape wanted was to be loved, and he never found it.

As a substitute, he became a Death Eater, feeling the need to belong somewhere.

There was one person who loved him, though, and that was Dumbledore.

And as a culmination of that relationship of love and trust, Dumbledore asked Snape to kill him.

So the one person that ever loved Snape, Snape had to kill because of that love.

Pretty freakin' tragic.

Yes, this theme came through nicely with Harry forced to decide between Hallows or Horcruxes; a theme that Harry Potter shares with Lord of the Rings.
