The idea here is, if someone asks you to commit suicide to prove your faith, it's probably time to take three giant steps backwards and reconsider your faith. No God I'm willing to be associated with will ask you do things that are destructive to youself or others. (That is, gratuitous things. Obviously, there are times where you have to do things that are destructive to some people in order to protect those that you have a responsibility to protect.)Obviously, Jim Jones (People's Temple) fails the test.A certain religion that asks people to strap on suicide belts to murder innocent people fails the test.A religion that would result in the end of mankind in one generation if all people subscribed to its precepts (i.e., the Shakers' celibacy) fails the test.

I thought I read several years ago about the death of the last Shaker. Where did these folks come from? Or was the previous report in error?

Well, having a third of the world's population in those two countries doesnt hurt. Though retiring with alot less cash, the old people who die with the most kids wins. Thats why I think my great-great grand children will be eating filaffel instead of tarte flambe when they honeymoon in Dar al Paris, Francistan.Falafel: no Jewish-Arab peace treaty is complete without it.

Let the frenchies have tans for all I care. Fact is, those in the secular world dont esteem their values or civilization enough to ensure that both are past on to a future generation.
