I don’t know if it’s automatic or the mod comes in every now and then and locks old threads to prevent too old thread resurrection (because it can be frustrating to write a post to a long gone poster as it is very unlikely one will get a response).

Ah, yes. Understood. Yes I knew that they did that for superannuated threads for that reason.
