Kirk had a lot of good advice that I agree with. This was one thing I didn't agree with him on. College is not worthless. I think he emphasized that a little too much that it is worthless, even though it might be for a few people. A lot of people go to college not knowing what they want to do and try different subjects until they decide on what field they want to concentrate on. I would not be in the profession I am in if I hadn't gone to college and then graduate school.

I was thinking much the same thing. Kirk's supporters would all be wanting to do the same thing for the kids.

Returned Missionary Detained Then Released after Kirk Assassination—Family Speaks Out Zachariah Qureshi is a 25-year-old returned missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who attended the “American Comeback Tour” at Utah Valley University as a supporter of Charlie Kirk according to his father. By the end of the day, he would be detained, questioned, and even labeled as the suspect in the fatal shooting of political commentator Charlie Kirk before being cleared of all suspicion and released. “It’s ridiculous. It’s absolutely uncalled for and insane,” Qureshi’s father told ABC4.com. “They should be focused on finding the killer.” The mistaken detainment has also caused the Qureshi family to come under fire as social media conspiracies and misinformation spread, even after it became clear Zachariah played no role in the shooting. Department of Public Safety Commissioner Beau Mason said in a press conference, “After releasing them, and after clearing them of being suspects, they faced scrutiny, they faced threats.” The Qureshi family has continued to receive online harassments and their family address in Texas was posted online. Commissioner Mason urged the public to stand down. “We ask that you do not impose into those people and that investigative process,” he said. “They don’t deserve that harassment for being subject to that.”

On June 18, 2018, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced plans to publish a new unified hymnal. The new hymnbook, “Hymns—For Home and Church,” is a major, multi-year project involving thousands of employees and volunteers worldwide. The global hymnbook will become available digitally and in print in dozens of languages over the coming years. Languages and Roles The hymnbook language translation team is seeking talented individuals fluent in Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, European Portuguese, Finnish, Haitian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Swedish, Thai and Ukrainian for three open roles: Translator or content reviewer (paid, independent contractor, 5+ hours a week) Singer (paid, independent contractor, 1–10 hours a week) Community feedback volunteer (unpaid, up to 1 hour a week) Latter-day Saints and friends of the Church with any background in translation, music, poetry or other creative writing experience in these languages are needed (additional languages may be added later), and all levels of experience are welcome to apply as soon as possible. "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has filed a lawsuit against its insurance providers, demanding they cover the costs of a child sexual abuse lawsuit settlement. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Salt Lake City, seeks to compel National Union Insurance and ACE Property & Casualty Co. to cover the financial settlement terms of a 2013 child sexual abuse case in West Virginia. In that litigation, the Church was sued by unnamed plaintiffs over allegations that the faith "negligently caused their abuse and resulting physical and emotional harm by failing to report a reasonable suspicion of child sexual abuse as required by West Virginia law, failing to properly supervise and train clergy, allowing the minor plaintiffs to come into contact with their abuser, failing to warn the minor plaintiffs and their parents, and otherwise failing to protect the plaintiffs from foreseeable harm. According to this new lawsuit, the Church alleges it went to its insurers to have the settlement costs covered under its umbrella liability policies. But the insurers have rebuffed it, basically arguing the Church has not met the threshold to qualify for coverage and should dip into its own pockets to cover the costs. "The Church has not established exhaustion of the National Union Umbrella Policy’s Retained Limit, which is a condition precedent to coverage," attorneys for that company wrote in a motion for summary judgment. "In the alternative, National Union moves this Court to enter summary judgment in its favor on the grounds that the Church is estopped from seeking defense and indemnity for the lawsuit, and that its settlement of the lawsuit breached the National Union Umbrella Policy’s voluntary payments provision, which is an additional bar to indemnity."
