Zakuska Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 PD1,As for God the Father being in Jesus, if God is this physical being that the LDS assert that he is, then equating how he is "in Jesus" in the same sense that the believer is "in Jesus" is inequal. For the believer is spiritually, and positionally, "in Jesus" due to the redemptive act that Jesus accomplished which allow for such to take place. Conversely, when the Christian thinks of God being in Jesus, and Jesus in God, it is because of the harmonious and intimate relationship that they have always shared, throughout eternity, as the one, true, God.Hmmm... Not according to Pastor Allister (Calvary Chapel) on the radio this morning?! He explained it just how Paul did. God is spirit, and those that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.Hmm... then that means we cant worship him because we are spirit who have bodies.But then again... Christ is a spirit that has a body too. (2 Cor. 3: 17)So what precludes his father from having one? Are you saying Christ has something the father doesnt?

I see that being on this side of the veil is just too hard for most people. So, they never are able to come to a true understanding of who God is. It is the common desire for man to want to believe in God and worship - but their understanding of God is based on fantasy, not reality. But fantasy based on faith is better than sin based on unbelief. I wish you well. I hope you serve God by being charitable to all those around you. That is very important. But know this: I'm not interested in a Heavenly Father that can't do the basic things in life - i.e.: look another man in the eyes! I know too much about God to even begin to digress below that simple knowledge.Take care, and thanks for a lively conversation! Paul O

And somehow think this is the end all of creation. Like this is the ultimate creation our universe can come up with? I just think there is a whole lot more ahead... we are, what, half way into the life of the universe? There is a LONG way to go.... but then again there will probably come a time when we dont even exist in the whole time/space continuum, who knows?While you think an energy cloud is not a big deal, I think a guy up on a globe near Kolob is nothing whatsoever like what is possible to exist. We are so limited in what we can even imagine or contemplate or conceive. I just find the idea of God being a man so unbelievably limiting... almost superficial or weak or something (I can't think of a good word). I mean it may be nice to think humans are the ultimate form of life that is possible but I just don't see it. I think it speaks to the human ego. The fact of the matter is, without everything that has existed prior to the human we wouldn't be here... we are just the latest (well one of them anyway) development to come forth.At least that is my belief... ~dancer~

I think Jesus was a human being... a wonderful, holy, pure, amazing human being.I think we are ALL divine in the sense that we are of one source, one essence.I think the whole half human, half man concept is metaphorical, fairly common in myth, and not reality in the sense the LDS church believes. ~dancer~

And to them it isn't a common myth.

And to them it isn't a common myth.When I use the term common myth, I am referring to the fact that there are many myths with this same theme. I'm using "common" in the sense that it is not unusual. I don't think this is disputed. I may be mistaken but I was under the impression that most mainstream Christians believe Jesus is God incarnate? I have never heard the suggestion that Jesus has half the DNA of Mary and half the DNA of God the Father, as is believed in the LDS church.I'm thinking a mainstream Christian can believe God expressed himself as Jesus but that God is beyond a human...So.. to the mainstream Christians on the board... do ya'll think God is human?I could be wrong here... anyone clear this up?Thanks,~dancer~
