The God of the Bible is a Divine Man

Sounds to me like God was communicating in a different way. Not by voice. Here we see that instead of saying that God talked with them like a man, the verses say His voice was like many waters.

Can music have a "voice" when it conveys meaning to you without actual speach?

Ezekiel 43:

Afterward he brought me to the gate, even the gate that looketh toward the east: 2 And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory.

Revelation 1:15

And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

dragonslayer,

"And, behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the east: and his voice was like a noise of many waters: and the earth shined with his glory."

1. The voice of many waters is a metaphor to describe the glory of Gods voice.

2. The earth shining with glory is another metaphor.

Jesus Christ is a divine Human. His feet are like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters! He is glorious beyond mortal description! Joseph Smith said he is brighter than the sun. God want us to think of him as a human. He describes himself in human form and we are in his image. He is a glorified Man. Such is Jesus Christ and so also his Father.

The Bible testifies of the immortal humanity of God the Father. Do you want to take away the humanity of the Father? Do you want to strip him of his human form? Will you deny he has a face, eyes, nose, mouth - in which he speaks to another face to face?

Paul, I see no blasphemy in not confining God to a body of flesh.

Do you agree that God was once on a planet and tempted as we are now? Did he see death on that planet?

If so, why the need for Jesus? And why do we find verses like this:

Hebrews 2

9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

If God had already tasted of death, there would have been no need for Christ.

Again dragonslayer... What does the surf sound like when it breaks on the cliffs? Or what does the mighty colorado sound like as it crashes down the canyon?

Sounds to me like his voice was very loud.

After all... didn't he "speak" from behind a cloud and say... "This is my beloved son... in whom I am well pleased".

dragonslayer,

Jesus is confined to a body of flesh. It was he that liveth, and was dead. He is the resurrection and the life. He tasted death but now his spirit and body are united never to be separated again. I look forward to seeing Jesus in the afterlife. I also look forward to seeing the face of my Father. I look forward to sitting down with them in the throne as Jesus promised I could do if I am victorious in Christ.

The questions you posed are not germane to this thread. I will not see it derailed.

I suppose we will just have to disagree. However, I wonder what language is used in heaven. English, French? Reformed Egyptian? :P

I just dont see why God has to speak like a man to communicate with us.

2 Corinthians 12:4

How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

Revelation 14

3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

If God is a man, then why did God (Heb. el) tell Balaam to tell Balak that, "God is not a man, that he should lie

Paul, what I posted was a good indicator that God is not a man....In the LDS sense anyway....Because if He was, there would have been no need for Jesus to taste death.

But OK, its your thread and Ill respect that.

Indeed he did. The Man of Holiness spoke. He declared his Son as the Savior of the world. His voice was heard. It is a male voice. The voice originates from a Man who has a face.

The voice of God the Father is not a woman's voice, neither it is animal in nature. God looks human and sounds like a man. All the angels in heaven know this to be true.

I've read that there are several different Hebrew Words used for "Man" in the Hebrew Language. The one used in that verse is the one that denotes "Sinful Man".

The Hebrew word in that passage is "ish." The LXX is "anthropos." There are no adjectives modifying either word (Hebrew=chata, Greek=hamartolos). Therefore, there is no need to read into that which is not there. God was simply telling Balaam that he was not a man, and he wanted him to pass that along to Balak. And if El/Yahweh is not a man, then why do the LDS state otherwise?

Paul,

I think dragonslayer and PD1 missed these verses:

Ex 15

3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

Ez 1

What kind of Being do you think sits on the throne?

Once again, Paul, the Bible reveals that God is not a man. And because he is not a man, He will not lie. On the other hand, it is possible that men may lie about God by subordinating Him to their own images, or something even lower amid creation (Rom. 1:23). Could it not be possible that the LDS are doing this everytime they dogmatically claim that God is a man?

No man should change his mind from the course of truth and righteousness. Again, you misunderstand a simple message.

PD1,

Paul, Numbers 23:19 does not speaking about Jesus Christ. It is talking about El/Yahweh. He is not a man, that He should lie.

Paul, in verse 5 of your citation it clearly states that "the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals." That person is none other than Jesus Christ, not God the Father, as a man.

Yep, the Lamb who was standing behind the throne walked over and took the book out of the hand of the Father. Jesus is the Lion of Judah and the Lamb of God.

Rev 5:7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

1. Jesus is in heaven

2. St. John and the angels were watching

3. The Father was holding a book

4. Everyone saw the Father holding a book

5. No one was worthy to open the book but Jesus only

6. Jesus walked over to the throne

7. Jesus took the book out of the hand of the Father

8. Everyone saw Jesus take the book
