When I was a missionary in America, a recently baptised couple in our ward invited my companion and me to watch the Super Bowl with them. I was certain the mission president would say no, but inexplicably he said yes. I'm not certain how long the whole ordeal lasted, but it felt like an entire day. I dozed off a few times in the process. I've never been a good spectator. (If someone has a ball, I'm up for a bit of play; I don't need surrogates to play for me.) But there is something genuinely painful about a supposed sporting match where the ball is only in play for an average of 11 minutes. 4
