churchistrue Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 StayLDS was started by John Dehlin and was somewhat prominent in the faith crisis online dialogue scene in the 2011-2012 time period, aimed at the niche for those who have non-traditional testimonies or disagree or are troubled by certain LDS teachings/doctrine/history but who find value in the church and usually have some sort of testimony albeit non-traditional and who who want to stay. I think the brand and the website have tremendous potential, as I see that niche as being quite large and underserved currently. It seems to me that when JD went a different direction personally, he sort of let Stay LDS whither away, and though there is still a core group of posters there, it seems to be dying out. I actually had some communications with John to purchase it from him and revive it, but that didn't go very far. I still have hope this niche will be served better online, and I still am inclined to be part of an effort to help create it, but the work effort level required I'm not sure I'm up for it to drive it personally right now.

That would great to rescue Stay LDS. I remember the begining of my FC joining that board, before coming to this one. It helped a lot! In fact at the very first I had Cog Dis when reading on it. I felt like I was reading anti stuff because it was so far from what I'd ever seen before. I had to hide my viewing it from my husband because I thought what I was doing was wrong. I laugh about that now. But definitely think it was Cog Dis all the way. If only that board was more readable like this board. This board is unique in that respect and unique in so many other ways. So if you were to ever own it or start another, try to replicate this board's readability. Oh, and BTW, yes that board had members who are very active and believers too. Just ones that are working through a bit of crisis at the same time.
