God is real

There is no reason to doubt the existence of God. There is no need to be agnostic, atheist, and secular because there is really no room for doubt. Last month sister Wilson shared a powerful testimony in sacrament meeting. When sister Wilson was reading the conversion of Alma the younger she felt the need to go to a specific restaurant. Sister Wilson did listen and went to the restaurant. To her surprise Sister Wilson found her younger brother with the missionaries inside the restaurant. Her brother was inactive and left the church, but now the missionaries are visiting him and his family. To make long story short sister Wilson was able to help her brother return to the church. Her brother's family is now getting baptized next week. 

Such amazing stories fill my soul. The Atheists cannot explain how such miracles are possible. There is no way it was a coincidence. She found her brother literally after reading Alma's conversation, there is just no way. 

I did share the experience to a friend, and as usual he tried to explain it away. He quoted a study, "Participants who lacked control were more likely to perceive a variety of illusory patterns, including seeing images in noise, forming illusory correlations in stock market information, perceiving conspiracies, and developing superstitions. Additionally, we demonstrated that increased pattern perception has a motivational basis by measuring the need for structure directly and showing that the causal link between lack of control and illusory pattern perception is reduced by affirming the self. Although these many disparate forms of pattern perception are typically discussed as separate phenomena, the current results suggest that there is a common motive underlying them." The quote was all he was able to do,  he had nothing else to say. 

Scientists can try explain away the miracles of God, but will never be successful. My response to the "study" is that conspiracy theories, noises, the stock market really have nothing to do with obvious miracles. Secularists always make things very complicated.

I challenge Cinepro, Gray, Teancum , Mormon Atheist and all the thinkers of this board to give me a rational explanation for Sister Wilson experience. Please don't share "studies" that have nothing to do with miracles.

Perhaps you should read A Course in Miracles (ACIM).  Some people say that Jesus wrote it, and that Helen Schucman was his scribe, with help also from William Thetford.  You can find it free online:  http://stobblehouse.com/text/ACIM.pdf .

Sounds like you want to stack your deck with reinforcing stories of your per-determined conclusion?  Yes Sister Wilson may have gone to some restaurant where her brother was, etc., etc.  My atheist ex-wife would get similar premonitions about people and would sometimes announce who we would meet at some night spot.  She was right some of the time.  Seems like it was always a coincidence or maybe she is dialed in to the electromagnetic brain waves of the individual?  I seem to remember a scientific breakthrough where brain waves were utilized to control a prosthetic arm without any other attachment.  Perhaps we are capable of distant communication with other humans as well?  I have had premonitions of meeting people before and they have come true.  In any event, I would dial back the miracle claim a little bit and look closely at the coincidence claim your friend made.

I lost my wallet the other day, and it was returned to me by a inactive member of our ward at my house when the missionaries were there.

 

No way that is a coincidence!!!!!!!

 

 

(Except for the fact the missionaries and I had just visited his house, and they were dropping me off at my house, when the inactive member showed up with my wallet, but still....)
