Mormons Don't Teach Ethics. True?

Somebody, cannot remember who exactly so I won't speculate, on a thread a week or so ago commented offhandedly that the Church does a bad job of teaching ethics.  I wish to challenge that unsupported assertion.  To do so, I wish to post a real-world fact pattern that raises several moral/ethical questions.  Let's see who responds and how they respond.

Daughter has severe health issues, but they aren't apparent.  Health issues are publicly explained as a combination of allergies and Celiac's.  This is true as far as it goes.  The real problem has been diagnosed as chronic Lyme infection (5 different varieties) and secondary infections, including more than one parasitic infestation (she passes worms in her stool).  Daughter wishes to marry.  Daughter and Mother have discussion on what to do about disclosure after Daughter becomes engaged.  Boyfriend's mother is dying from cancer.  Boyfriend's mother has a comfort animal, a dog.  Daughter and Mother blame comfort animal for Daughter's allergy symptoms.  Daughter and Mother inform Boyfriend that he and Daughter will be unable to spend any time with his mother during the 9 months h

Daughter and Mother decide not to disclose extent of health problems.

Sister and her Husband (and his mother and father) feel the pull to tell Boyfriend about the extent of the infections, feeling desperately sorry for Boyfriend and his mother.  Mother and Daughter are not particularly caring and forgiving people, and would likely never forgive Sister if she disclosed Daughter's condition to Boyfriend.

What do Sister, Husband (and his mother and father) do?

What does Mormonism teach?  What does non-Mormonism teach?  What would you do if you were Daughter, Mother, Sister, Husband (or his mother or father)?

This is a personal matter not related to Mormonism.
