Derek Rogers Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 I am a member in New Jersey raising money so I can move on my own. My living situation is an assisting living for those with disabilities. I used to living on my own. Now I feel that I am ready. I recently return to participate in church. It is difficult in my current situation. Can you please share blessings to me so that I can return to live a more productive life so that I can serve more productively. https://www.gofundme.com/Move-on-own

rpn Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 May I suggest that you talk to your caseworker about helping you get an SSA Ticket to Work, so you can earn money without impacting your government benefits, and then follow a ticket to work program to get the skills to get and keep a job, and then you'll have money for your rent in your own apartment? Also, your disability may allow you to get a federal subsidized apartment sooner than an able bodied person getting on the list would. So get your HTer to help you sign up for that program. Your goal is worthwhile, but your doing it on your own is what will help you become someone who can really make the independent living arrangement work. 2
Skylla Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 We wish you the best, Derek, but our forum isn't a place to ask for money. I would suggest Facebook, Twitter, etc. Skylla
