I went to elementary school on US 89 ( State Street) in Salt Lake County. A plaque in the building identified 89 as part of the historic Pony Express route. The horses had quit running by then, though.

I lived in and around two Pony Express Monuments...in Tooele County by Vernon..near Fairfield and I think there was one around the Stockton area. If anyone gets a chance to go to Fairfield..there is a BY home there that is beautiful..also a dog cemetary.
