Most articles I’ve read lately seem to indicate that the health benefits of tea outweigh the negatives.  The same goes for a small glass of wine every day, or a cup of coffee.  I abstain frome these because like salgare said…”It’s simply a matter of obedience”.

As missionaries in Japan, a country that LOVES its tea and coffee, we had a handout that listed all the types of teas that were against the WoW (mostly made of tea leaves IIRC) and those that were acceptable (herbal or grain).  In fact, our mission president’s wife sent a mission wide memo suggesting we all stop drinking soda (Fanta was popular among the elders) because of the sugar, and start drinking cold “wheat tea” during the hot summer months.

I gave up soda (mostly) because of the sugar content, not the caffeine.  I still have an energy drink when energy is needed, but keep it to a minimum.  There are a lot of things we can put in our bodies that are terrible for our health; a huge slice of cake, a “Kong Kone” from Macey’s (ice cream), endless red meat at Tucano’s, etc.   Moderation is key.
