What is your favorite bible version?

By the way. I love the KJV and the JST the most personally, but I can usually find what I need through any other translation. Unfortunately I find that the newer versions sometimes re-translate things into our plain English language and it ends up narrowing the meaning down from certain things into a less inspired interpretation, of what was originally said, as I'm sure happened in translation from their original languages into the Kings English as well.

He does reveal Himself to those who truly seek Him. It just isn't in the way that we expect Him to. I am reminded of a time when I was helping my daughter to learn how to listen to the very real answers to prayers of faith. I was led to ask her what she could hear. It was quiet because it was night and I live in a rural area. I asked her to tell me everything she could hear. She told me she could hear the waves crashing in the back ground, the occasional car passing by every so often, and nothing else. I said are you sure. We listened for around five minutes while I kept hearing, the entire time, crickets chirping really loud just outside our open window. Finally she said no I hear nothing else. Then I pointed out the crickets and she was so amazed at how she hadn't even noticed them because they were by far the loudest thing that was going on, the entire time. After that she couldn't stop hearing them.

Perhaps you just haven't opened yourself up to listening for God, which will eventually lead you to seeing Him in person if you listen and obey Him, who won't show Himself just to squash any learning how to have faith first. He loves us too much to just show himself to entertain our lack of trying to gain the personal growth that we couldn't get the whole time we were with Him, before we even came to this Earth, not because He lacks in courage. I know it has benefited my kids to adjust going to nursery and primary, when they were little by keeping myself from their view as I checked in on how well they were handling being all alone in a classroom of strange people that they weren't yet used to being around. Often times they would only cry and make a scene when they actually caught me looking in. Before they noticed me they were doing just fine. He is a loving Father to us and wants the best for us on a personal level. It makes me sad that you haven't experienced that awesome love yet.

"He does reveal Himself to those who truly seek Him." This is a grand farce or cop out I might say... "Perhaps you just haven't opened yourself up to listening for God," This is even better....Ahem....should I stand on top of my head?  " It makes me sad that you haven't experienced that awesome love yet." And this.....Which is more sad than the others....Because it is buried into such fantasie I don't think I can wake you up to smell reality....

Those crickets weren't just fantasy! My daughter had a hard time falling asleep that night because they were so loud to her after. You can deny truth all you want, just because you can't perceive it because of the blinders you have placed upon yourself, doesn't mean it is all just fantasy, it only means that you don't know everything and don't want to know the truth. It matters not to me, but it sure is amazing how close minded some people are. What I have seen and learned about through divine, personal revelation was real, including the first time I was challenged to just try it out, with the same kind of doubts you are having right now. I just couldn't see how it could be possible that any of it was true, so it couldn't have been a product of my self will. I would have just had it confirmed to me that God isn't there if that were the case. Mocking something just because you are closed to the possibility of it will only reveal your ignorance when you are faced with the realities of where you go when you leave this life. Hopefully you can open your mind to the truth instead of trying to take others faith away in a vain attempt at justifying your own self imposed blindness.

Now what was this thread supposed to be about? ....oh yeah. What Bible we like.

This is my favorite sentence of yours........

"just because you can't perceive it because of the blinders you have placed upon yourself,"

How is that possible when 90% of my ancestors dropped dead, and I see their dead pictures day after day? I wish so bad that I had those blinders to protect me from those memories that they died in vain believing, they'd be saved by their faith. (I'm not a Jew but it goes for them too).

The blinders aren't stopping you from seeing anything you are already seeing, like your pictures (Sorry for you losses by the way. I feel you on that one), it is stopping you from seeing that your ancestors are still alive and well, only not residing in the clay vessel called our mortal body. Just as my daughter couldn't hear the crickets because her mind just shut out the reality of them chirping loud, just outside the window, the same goes for the veil that divides our physical realm from our spiritual realm. You can start to pierce that veil if you only but try, in the way that the creator of that both realms prescribes for us to do. It won't happen all at once if you choose not to wait until death to pierce that veil, but will be incremental as your capacity to understand it grows:

"10  But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11  When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12  For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."
1 Corinthians 13:10-12

waveslider,

While I do not respect your faith one iota, I do respect you for your beliefs...

As for me I tried over fifty years with absolute zero, Kelvin temperature response. When I read your comments I picture a relationship with an exwife that I have who claims we had kids together and wants to support her rest of my life. I never seen this woman, only heard of her by third party who claims that I was married to her.

Of course in this case the relationship is Jesus.....Never seen, never heard of Him....

I can respect your beliefs as well. I understand the absolute zero, Kelvin response. It was the same way with me for the first 19 years of my life even though I was born into this church. It wasn't until I was faced with telling everyone I wasn't about to go on any mission to try and convince people to join my church when I don't even know if God even existed. I had read so many anti Mormon publications that I couldn't even possibly see how it could even be true at all, in a logical sense. It was at this point I was challenged to read the Book Of Mormon and pray about it for a month, sincerely asking if it was true right after reading in it, each morning and night. It still seemed like nothing for almost the entire month, but I still tried it just so I could honestly say I tried it before saying it didn't work. It wasn't until one night in particular that I decided I was either going to get an answer, or I was going to wake up on my knees, which would have been an answer in and of itself. I received an answer with very sore knees eventually, and I can never deny it again. I have since then found at least one lie, or twisted truth in each and every anti Mormon literature piece I have ever read to this day. That said I can respect, and even understand, your beliefs as well.
