Mountain Meadows In The News Again.

Although a contract was signed and it was tentatively named After the Massacre, I don't know how far in the works they are.

IIRC it was a really hard book to write and they needed a break afterwards.

I am one of those pigs that only hears a lot of hot air from those who claim to be descendants of the victims of the MMM.  This is a complex issue that few attempt to understand because it is so much easier to begin and end at the name itself.  If there are those who want to carry this burden around and attempt to accuse the Church of all things evil, then I say to them to load up their burden and never set it down.  May each of them feel the weight of that burden every day of their lives and may they recognize each and every day they can put it down at any time.  They have chosen their own unhappiness.

······ Since 2008's Massacre at Mountain Meadows published an image of Brigham Young's letter telling the saints not the meddle with the wagon train, the anti's have had to dig all the more to make the Church look bad. ······

Richard Turley spoke at Dixie State University's Juanita Brook Lecture last year. The topic of the lecture was John D. Lee's first criminal trial. Dixie has a transcript of Turley's lecture available online here: https://library.dixie.edu/special_collections/juanita_brooks.html. I was present and remember him talking about the next book, which is still a go, and what he shared in the lecture will be part of the book.
