The Nehor Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 The Washington Post says it better than I can:http://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-obama-administration-extends-the-castro-regime-in-cuba-a-bailout-it-doesnt-deserve/2014/12/17/a25a15d4-860c-11e4-9534-f79a23c40e6c_story.html?hpid=z3I disagree with the article. I do not think Cuba is near reforming and that this is giving their government a new lease on life. I have heard that line my entire life, that democratic elements will soon force change. Not convinced that this time it is different. It has been 50 years. Most of the people in the country who were around when Cuba's actions led to the embargo are dead. It is time for the embargo to die with them.

You can be sure any money that comes from our tourism to Cuba is going to wind up in the Castros back pocket. Normalizing relations with Cuba will not help the Cuban people and may actually wind up keeping them under the Castros thumbs longer. Venezuela was supplying Cuba with oil, but it looks like the Venezuelans are imploding and won't be able to prop up Castro much longer. So here come the Pope and Obama to prop them up.

Too much exposure tends to warp the mind to such conclusions.

Too much exposure tends to warp the mind to such conclusions.Haven't listened to talk radio at all today or yesterday. But I am listening to a lot of people who know more than I do who are criticizing this move. The only beneficiaries will be the Castros and Cuba's military because that is where any tourism money we give them will wind up. The poor people on the bottom won't get it. The liberal Washington Post is hardly talk radio.

Too much exposure tends to warp the mind to such conclusions.Talk radio (IE Glenn, Sean, Rush )has not once said that Obama and Casrto were promoting socialism. And that this "deal" was to promote socialsim. I think you like to project and talk out your *** when you don't know what really is going on. You have a great knack for doing it. Bart Burk Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 If you are an American travel to Cuba is still highly limited. Castro won't see your tourist dollars anytime soon. That's one of the things that will be changing with this new policy Obama has implemented. More travel will occur. Of course neither the Pope or Obama seem to care there are laws on the books that Obama is breaking through this action: http://gretawire.foxnewsinsider.com/2014/12/17/what-does-florida-congresswoman-ros-lehtinen-think-of-the-cuba-news/

I can deluge you with quotes but I want to make sure this is a hill you want to take a stand on.

That takes an act of Congress. ONLY those Americans with relatives inside of Cuba will have an easier time of send those relatives certain limited goods.SEE http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/dec/17/improved-us-cuba-relations-average-american

The only thing keeping him from going there right now is the Republican Congress. He has been a socialist ever since he was in Illinois running for the Democratic Party and the New Party: http://www.wnd.com/2008/10/78945/ Unfortunately, I believe the current Pope has clearly been politically informed by his time in Argentina where the Left has so much influence. It is natural that he and Obama are the ones working for normalized relations with Cuba which does nothing more than enrich the Castros.

thesometimesaint Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 He seems to do a lot of damage with that handy dandy pen he has. Does Executive order sound familiar? I'm very familiar with the term. He is well within his Executive Powers to get the ball rolling. Are you forgetting Nixon's trip to China?
