Daniel Peterson Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 Sorry. I only noticed this thread just now. 1. The Interpreter Foundation functions on a shoestring budget and, while currently nowhere near a crisis, needs to do some serious fundraising in the near future. 2. Donations are certainly welcome. Even, despite his views on Book of Mormon geography, from Bob Crockett! 3. Donations can be made anonymously. Some already have been -- including, to this point, our two biggest. 4. As we move into book publishing and begin to plan several more conferences, our expenses are rising. They will continue to be modest for the foreseeable future, but not as modest as they have been. 5. We're very transparent about our expenditures: http://www.mormoninterpreter.com/expenses/ 6. I wasn't a victim of Church Correlation. 7. The "new direction" of the Maxwell Institute wasn't ordered by Church Correlation. 8. So far as I've been told -- which is quite a bit, from multiple people at the very highest levels -- neither the Board of Trustees nor the Council of the Twelve ordered my expulsion from the Maxwell Institute. They read about it, with surprise, in the newspaper. 9. Again, so far as I've been told -- by various people at the very highest levels of Church leadership -- neither the Board of Trustees nor the Council of the Twelve directed the Maxwell Institute to change its course or adopt a "new direction." They've learned about the changes subsequently. 10. Thanks for the kind words about Interpreter's second birthday. 11. Good things are in the pipeline. 3
Tiki Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Drive-by insults are not welcome on this thread. It wasn't an insult. I've read many of their articles.
Scott Lloyd Posted August 8, 2014 Author Posted August 8, 2014 It wasn't an insult. I've read many of their articles.I see little distinction between one-liner, unsubstantiated accusation and the garden-variety, drive-by insult. 4
