I didn't gave them and install because DH is an electrical engineer and has never had a problem before switching back and forth in other houses. Right now he can find one place to plug in the phone and modem. The other places seem to be too small for the wire thing to go in for some reason. Not a great concern to us. The concern we have is that while the phone works, the modem doesn't. I'm assuming DH has taken into account that maybe the modem no longer works as it did 7 months ago. Is it possible that the company just didn't turn on the DSL somehow when they connected us?
silvermoon383 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 My parents have some sort of adapter that hooks to all the phones in the house. Can't remember if it's because without them the phones won't work, or if without them the phones prevent the DSL from working. I haven't really looked into DSL myself, it's pretty archaic as Internet technology goes, and is way too slow for my needs.

Call your company's tech support and have them walk you through it. 1

Question on my other thread: yes, I have a dsl modem.We didn't want to call tech support because we declined the charge to have it installed. By calling we were afraid we would get charged too much.DH finally went outside to the box and still no internet. Finally had to call because we could see no way to get it without calling. Ding ding, we have a winner. They failed to give both a username and password to get things started.Thanks for help!We actually changed to dsl because we could get more than twice as much speed for less money. We were actually getting only about 20 percent of the speed we were paying for with cable. And now that we just tested it is about 5-10 times faster than we tested with cable.
