Did Abraham Lincoln Read The Book Of Mormon?

Laughable nonsense.  I didn't have cable till 2-1/2 years ago, and rarely, if ever, look at broadcast news.

Your pejorative "faux news" tells us all pretty much what we need to know about your sensibilities and loyalties . . .

Oh, that's right . . . but of course I'd never use irony to make a point . . . that would be me making an ad hominem argument.

Like that pretty much useless post.

Faux News is anyone whether by voice, print, or electronic means purposefully presents false and/or misleading information.

Ps; So whether it is the NY Times, Judith Miller, Jerome Corsi, The World Net Daily they are all Faux News when they deliberately present false and/or misleading information.

What does my use of the words Faux News tell you about my sensibilities and loyalties?

I like good irony. I don't appreciate the use of bad irony to questions the motivations. sensibilities, and loyalties of others because of race, creed, color, sex, anything beyond their control, etc., etc., etc..

You asked me for my personal experience. I gave it. If you find it ironic and/or useless I have no control over that.

Oops!

I make note that you revealed your real meaning ==>> you used "Faux News" with capital letters which is an obvious play on the name "Fox News".  I have never seen or heard this in any other context, especially when used as a title.

But let's move on and not get political.

There is only one Fox News so it is Emphasis not Possessive.

Don't worry I make it abundantly clear when I'm being political. For the record I'm a moderately conservative liberal. Extremists on any side don't appeal to me. :)

Ps; There is only one person I always agree with and that is myself, and I'm entitled to change my mind.

Wait, on one hand, most LDS will argue that the Lord had a hand in the formation of this nation and directly inspired our forefathers in their formation of the United States and particularly it's Constitution, which allowed for the practice of slavery, and now the Lord was directing Lincoln in battling that slavery that the "inspired" forefathers had all but ignored, and thus allowed as a right by way of ommission?

Anyone else see a contradiction here?

I think you should go back and take a look at the notes taken at the constitutional convention.  It clearly shows that slavery was a very hotly disputed topic with many of the delegates adamantly opposed.  But, in order to get the Constitution signed they had to compromise.

To say that the Constitution was divinely inspired is not to say that every single word of it was dictated by God. Rather, the principles on which it was structured are divinely directed, particularly pertaining to God-given moral agency.

Read the Doctrine and Covenants on the subject of the U.S. Constitution to get a better understanding.

You may be interested in the following statement by President Brigham Young:

“I want to say to every man, the Constitution of the United States, as formed by our fathers, was dictated, was revealed, was put into their hearts by the Almighty, who sits enthroned in the midst of the heavens; although unknown to them, it was dictated by the revelations of Jesus Christ, and I tell you in the name of Jesus Christ, it is as good as I could ask for.” (Brigham Young, July 14, 1850.)

BY whatever his prophetic abilities were, was no mind-reader. Every word of the US Constitution was debated and debated time and again over the 22 months it took to hammer it out. IE; Some delegates wanted House members to run for election each year, some wanted them to run every three years. Which one did God dictate to those delegates? Clue; it was neither

I wonder if BY carried over some Protestant version of "God breathed" scripture into his later understanding.
