Mls -- Tithing Records

I'm sure there are times that errors are made, but I can honestly say that in 5 years I have never committed or omitted any of the above practices. The stewardship of the ward's finances should be taken seriously.

It must also be remembered that we provide statements prior to tithing settlement for all ward members to review. This allows corrections to be made prior to the year end submission. (There are times we do make mistakes.) Thanks for your understanding : )

The problem arises when the clerks, wanting to get home and eat lunch, (justifiably, after possibly 5 early morning meetings) type in the first few letters of the last name and "Jones" pops up, do not scroll down to match the name on the slip with the Jones name in the computer.  The first name listed for the family often gets the donation regardless of who's name is on the slip.

My son's name is similar to mine and the first year we were in our new ward, all of my tithing was assigned to him and all of his tithing was assigned to me.  It was an interesting tithing settlement when my paper only showed me paying a few dollars. :)

That is one of the things tithing settlement is for.  I trust it all got straightened out and there was no harm done.
