Question On Don Bradley'S 2011 Fair Conference Presentation On The Kinderhook Plates

In Don Bradley's 2011 FAIR Conference presentation "President Joseph Has Translated A Portion": Solving the Mystery of the Kinderhook Plates" Don speaks of the related news article from the New York Herald for May 30th 1843 written by "A Gentile" who confirmes that Joseph's attempt at translating the Kinderhook Plates was actually just a comparison of characters from the GAEL to those on the Kinderhook Plates. Has Don or anyone else done more reasearch to try to find out who "A Gentile" is? I know in the 4 part podcast interviews done with Don he briefly states that he thinks he knows who that was but I don't recall him stating who he thinks it was or who he was able to nail it down to through the process of elimination or whatever. Any ideas? Thanks

Research shows "A Gentile" to be a friendly non-Mormon then living in Nauvoo

Here we’ve got the New York Herald for May 30th, 1843, which published a letter from someone who signed as “A Gentile.” Now looking at the letter and then from other correspondence, from this guy to James Gordon Bennett of the Herald, the editor, we find out that he is a friendly non-Mormon who lives in Nauvoo. So there is the close up so you can see the date, “Nauvoo, Illinois, May 7th, 1843,” you’ll notice that May 7th is the same date for the Parley P. Pratt letter where he says various people had examined the Kinderhook plates, and the same date for the Joseph Smith journal entry that also says that people had come calling on Joseph about the plates.

Well we may never know who the mysterious "A Gentile" is but I did notice what may be another correlation. It looks like there was another shape similar to the glyphic that was used by Joseph to somewhat translate the Kinderhook plates that looks like a sideways "P" which of course looks something similar to the infamous sideways "D". In the GAEL it says the Sideways P is "The land which was discovered under water by a woman". I couldn't read the name of the glyph in though (something like Lota Touer ZipZi). Anyways this may also be the reference referring to Egypt assuming this is talking about the daughter of Egyptus from Abraham 1:23-24 which states,

23. The land of Egypt being first discovered by a woman, who was the daughter of Ham, and the daughter of Egyptus, which in the Chaldean signifies Egypt, which signifies that which is forbidden;

24. When this woman discovered the land it was under water, who afterward settled her sons in it; and thus, from Ham, sprang the race which preserved the curse in the land.

It turns out there are a few letters to the Herald under the same pseudonym. Piecing together the clues provided in all of these narrows the author's identity tightly enough that I'm confident of who it is. (The author was, as the pseudonym suggests, a non-Mormon living in Nauvoo.) I probably won't post on that between now and when(ever) I publish. Mark Ashurst-McGee and I have some publication plans, though, necessarily, that will be put off till after my complete my book on the lost 116 pages.\
