Damien the Leper Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 A friend of mine who is a critic of the church sent the link to this Tony Awards performance. While I did find it funny, it didn't help much with how people see us as a culture.
darkandlight Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I'm not really a fan of performers that uses religion, race and stereotypes to entertain people. It may be funny but sometimes these forms of entertainment also make way for discrimination and prejudice.

However, Mormons are responsible for The Singles Ward, The 2nd Singles Ward, and The RM movies. We do it to ourselves.
KevinG Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 There is a big difference between friendly and even pointed self-depreciating humor and an outsider mocking a group. Just ask black comedians who use the N word, or Asians who tell jokes about their relationships with their elders.
