That My Big Brother, I'M Following His Example

I was looking at the members of our Branch today during F&T, and happened to notice two young men of a family.

The oldest turned 12 this year & is now a deacon.

He wears his shirt buttoned up, tie all neat & correct, passing the Sacrament each week.

I couldn't help but notice that his 10 year old brother now mirrors him & what a fine pair of young men they look too.

I'm not so much saying that the shirt & the tie maketh the man, but they really stood out & caught me eye.

This deacon is the first to be born into our Branch & make it through to ordination whilst still in the Branch.

I remember minding him as a baby, as him mum & dad were going through the Temple.

I helped to dress him in his whites, in preparation for being sealed to his parents, then as he had fallen asleep, I took him into the sealing room, holding him during that sealing.

I guess that the glimpse of these two young boys, one proving to be a great example to his younger brother, was one of those moments when time stands still & you realise all that has occurred to make this moment come to pass, that it has its own significance.

I kind of chose the title along the same lines too, I wonder if I'm trying to match up to my ultimate older big brother's example?

I like it. Even though I was a girl it was always important to me to follow my brothers example. Later on, many many years later, my brother told me that he went on a mission because of me so I guess it works both ways.

Hi Ticketyboo,

Thanks for sharing that.

I looked up & copied my sister a lot, & was also copied.

On a somewhat lighter note...

Did you ever hear Michael Jr. wonder what it was like for James, Jesus' little brother?
