thesometimesaint Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Hughes:There is always a bit of dynamic tension. The right to worship as you please vs the need for a united people. Religion is one of the ways most often used by governments to unite its citizens. The US was/is different. We wanted a strictly secular government while preserving the individuals right to believe and practice their own faith as they choose.
cdowis Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 What's the latest? I last read that Iran changed the charges to rape.
Calm Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Safe for now. Government first said the execution order was for zionism and security charges, now is saying there is no execution order, never was and that he is being held to be tried on rape and extortion, iirc.A man can be executed for rape, don't know about extortion or the other possible charge of Zionism (which is probably spying).
