How on earth do you know which teachings should be followed (as being from God) and which should be discounted (as merely personal opinion).Not problematic at all. That is because the way to identify official LDS doctrine is whether or not it's published by the Church. Uchtdorf referenced General Conference which is officially published by the Church; sometimes after modifications are made first.
