Aoda Candidate Initiation, Finally

I finally managed to gather all the necessary supplies and perform my initiation as a Druid Candidate in the Ancient Order of Druids in America today. I've been preparing since March 21 of 2008 for this day. I am deeply moved and joyful for this day. It's been a great day for my spirituality.

The Native American center here at the university has an outdoor ceremonial firepit which they were kind enough to let me use. An Cailleach na Beara has not quite let go of the Missoula valley (it snowed the other day), but though the sky was cloudy, there was little wind and pleasant temperature for the afternoon.

When I was praying Wednesday concerning the issue I asked y'all to pray with me for, one of the commitments I made was to be more valiant in my Druid training, as well as in my scripture study, regular prayer, etc. I have been given reason to hope for the future, but it will take patience and faithfulness.

Hmmm... you made it sound like you had some serious difficulty you were facing. I assumed it had to do with a family situation or similar... I even put your name in the temple. I had no idea we were praying for your commitment to pagan training as a Druid. The power and authority of the Holy Priesthood isn't enough?

GG

edit to add... Sorry Nathair, I know the above sounds like harsh criticism. And I don't mean to dampen your enthusiasm, but you really should have given a better idea of what we were praying for when you requested our prayers. I would have responded differently.

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse, What I asked for was in regard to my serious family troubles. I just meant that one of the things I committed to if Heavenly Father would help me with my family situation was to be more diligent in all my spiritual responsibilities. Again, I apologize for the lack of clarity.

Yeah, I phrased that poorly. That was one of the promises I made to Heavenly Father if he would help me with my family. Again, I apologize for the mixup.

The AODA is more of a fraternal order, like the Freemasons, than a religious group,

Edit to add: The above sounds harsh, even to my ears, but what I want to say is that my membership is more like being a Mason than like joining another religion.

I'm sorry Nathair... I really do owe you an apology. What you choose to participate in that adds to your spiritual feelings is up to you... as someone who loves nature, talks to my plants, and sees a connectiveness in the whole, I do understand. I just don't go quite as far...

I'm glad you had a good and joyful day... mea culpa...

No, you don't need to apologize. It was a reasonable interpretation of the way I wrote it. It's my fault for being less than clear. You've always been an inspiration to me and an example of Christlike behavior.

Well, I'm not allowed to describe the initiation ceremony to anybody not in the order, but it's nothing any Latter-Day Saint should have issues with. You ask for guidance from the deity of your choice, in my case, Heavenly Father, and you commit to follow the course of study for the candidate year. You can read the course of study here.

Lol Nathair, I was not worried about you. The coursework looks very interesting... what level do you intend to reach by the end of things?

Serene Wishes,

TAO
