Ask to become a high priest

Yes, and i keep asking the sp why since i am such a trouble maker, his response, that is true, but you get the job done.

I know I had an interview with my bishop prior to my interview with a member with the stake presidency and he initiated the advancements of myself and others (without associated callings) to be high priests by recommending our names to the stake presidency. Obviously they concurred. I don't know how many names were submitted and if all of them were accepted by the stake presidency, but I would guess it this isn't taken lightly by them and is a matter of prayer and revelation. I certainly was not "bucking" to become a high priest and a bit uncomfortable when the call came as I explained above, and I never would have had the audacity to request such a calling.

However, I was just thinking of Abraham 1:2 where Abraham states that he "sought for the blessings of the fathers, and the right whereunto I should be ordained to administer the same". What do y'all think of that in this context? Did Abraham request to receive this ordination? Or was his desire to live in such a way that he would receive this ordination through the proper priesthood channels? Something to think about. I still think it's a little presumptuous to request this of the bishop. But I don't think it necessarily bad to desire and live one's life worthy of the ordination.

I agree with you, also I say we should be careful not to over step our place, but faith in every aspect of our life [ callings, testamony, over comming weakness, and ect. ] all are actions that we choose to follow and seek out.

I dont think anything would ever get done if we just stood by and waited for something to happen, we need to be movers.

i never seeked out being a bishop, but i felt that something was comming so in stead of sitting around and waiting I took what I felt and studied the scriptures and talked with others about there life and learned from them, also i read alot of biographys of church leaders and what type of choices they made.

i feel that we gain knowledge by study and wisdom by learning from others good choices and mistakes, and experince from our good lives that we live, hopfully.
